1.
Virtual Symposia
As part of ISHNE educational activities, and on behalf of the Educational
Committee, Dr. Sergio Dubner is organizing different web-based symposiums,
like last year´s ARVD and AF´s
symposium.
This
year, we are proud to present to you two new activities:
|
A. ISHNE Heart Failure World-Wide Internet Symposium
Heart Failure World-Wide Internet Symposium took place in April
2006 under leadership of Dr. Arthur J. Moss as Honorary President,
Dr. Sergio Dubner as Chair of Scientific Committee, and Dr. Edgardo
Schapachnik as President of Steering Committee with very active
role of Dr. Andrés Ricardo Pérez Riera and Dr. Li
Zhang.
On behalf of ISHNE, I would like to thank organizers and faculty
of the meeting for their outstanding work on preparing and conducting
this very successful virtual symposium. This symposium exceeded
even further our expectances showing that ISHNE educational active
has a major impact. We had 11,000 participants of this virtual
symposium from all over the world. In particular, we are grateful
to Dr. Li Zhang who helped organizing translating the content
of the symposium into Chinese and Dr. Leonid Makarov who led the
initiative of translation in Russian. These two languages brought
us in contact with about 1000 additional participants in each
of these countries. Currently our symposium is being conducted
in five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and
Russian.
We are grateful to St. Jude Medical for unrestricted educational
grant supporting this meeting and for efforts of St. Jude Medical
in popularizing this meeting. Special thanks go to Mr. Bruce Meredith
for his continues help and support in successfully accomplishing
all steps of the meeting.
It is important to emphasize that for colleagues who missed the
symposium in April, there is still an opportunity to listen to
talks and view slides as well as download lectures since these
materials will be kept on symposium website (http://www.hf-symposium.org/home.php)
for one full year. There is an opportunity to earn Continues Medical
Education (CME) credits via the system on the website.
B. ISHNE World-Wide Internet Symposium on Sudden Cardiac
Death
On October 1, 2006, we will start ISHNE virtual symposium on Sudden
Cardiac Death, with Dr. Douglas Zipes as Honorary President. We
invite you to join us for this world-wide event with outstanding
faculty. Details will be posted on the www.ishne.org.
2. ISHNE Educational Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital
in Detroit
In March 2006, Dr. Claudio Schuger, Chief of Electrophysiology
at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit hosted for 2 weeks to cardiology
fellows as part of ISHNE educational fellowship supported by Guidant
Corporation. Dr. Ilknur Can from Ankara, Turkey, and Dr. Marcin
Rosiak, from Lodz, Poland, were this year recipients of these
year fellowship. We encourage young colleagues interested in experiencing
state-of-the-art invasive electrophysiology to provide us with
applications consisting of CV and accompanying recommendation
letter(s) by October 1, 2007.
